CCA Treated Timber (Chromated Copper Arsenate Treatment)
In Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) treatment, copper is the primary fungicide, arsenic is a secondary fungicide and an insecticide and chromium is a fixative, which also provides ultraviolet (UV) light resistance.
Recognized for the greenish tint it imparts to timber, CCA is a preservative that was extremely common for many decades. CCA treated timber can be glued and painted and has a pleasant natural-looking, green finish which is safe to handle with no odour.
CCA Treated Timber is treated in the following Hazard classes:
- H2 – Internal above ground
- H3 – External and above ground
- H4 – In ground contact
- H5 – Vineyard
